Have one of these in my Sharkface (constructed from foam not balsa) 22" Park Flyer, with Blue Wonder 1300Kv motor, 7x4 Prop, and Unitech 3S1P 11.1V 450mAH 10C LiPo - works a treat so far. For ease of use and setting up, I would recommend the Black Mantis Program Card - makes life so much easier - especially for me as I also have the Black Mantis 12A and 40A ESCs in other models.

Have used hobbywing in the past thought I would try the Black Mantis, I found battery & motor wires short 50mm had to solder longer battery wires on, armiing & programing tones very faint, more of a pain to alter programing from TX than Hobbywing. Seems to work ok so far, but IMHO the hobbywing is a better esc .

Brilliant service as usual, thanks! The Black Mantis 12A speedo and programming card are pretty good too. I've just wired up the esc and done some test runs for my FF comp model (with a Waypoint 2205/36 motor & 7.5/4 Graupner) and the performance is excellent. I'll now look at buying a bigger one to go with the Keda ThumbRun for my next model.

As I have said previously, these speed controllers are fantastic! Exceptionally smooth, maintain precise control of the motor and very reliable. At this sort of price, they are my favorite controllers, bar none!

I've now got 4 of these controllers. The Black Mantis card works fine - as it should. The wires seem weedy for 12A but swapping them out for thicker (0.75 sq mm) wire didn't seem to make a lot of difference so I won't bother in future, they work very well as is driving a little inrunner at 50,000rpm+ in an EDF unit.

I have two of these.
None of the existing programme cards seem to work with them.
One is connected to a AX1818N motor. These are tiny motors but VERY "coggy" with VERY strong magnets.........turn the prop with a finger and as it goes past a magnet it'll snap forward and likely hit you!!! (the bearing are free, it's MAGNETIC resistance)
On 2S it won't start the motor from rest..........give the prop a spin and it runs OK till you drop throttle to a low rate.
On 3S there is sometimes a delay before it starts, particularly when cold.
Two other makes of ESC I have work OK with this motor. Have tried to alter settings (via Tx of course!) but nothing I have tried seems to alter this issue.
Apart from this they seem to work OK, but I'd be wary of buying one to work with a particularly powerful motor.
The other one is about to go into a new plane fitted with a 2204 on 2S, which seems to run OK on the bench.....no start issues evident.....I'll report again once I receive the servos and Rx and can test it fully.
