I have various capacity Mantis ESCs (a total of 5 plus two of these 30A units) and they all work extremely well. Another plus is that they're quite slim and this makes installation a relatively easy task. Programming can take some time if using the Tx and not a programme card, but at this price who cares!

Great ESC, duff instructions. For those that want to program it via their transmitter and not buy a card, please note that the tones for some modes are not as printed. To set Low Voltage Cutoff Type to "Reduce Power", which should be factory default but isn't, I have had to use the tone sequence for "Hard Cut Off" instead. But it worked. Also to get the esc to enter programming mode, the throttle stick needs to be set somewhat short of maximum. If it's set on maximum, it will never enter programming mode. It's kept me amused for 2 days, but I made it !

Very good quality speedcontroller at low price, clear audible indication when ready to run or when throttle is not at minimum setting on start up. Appears to be well constructed with clear shrink wrap so you can visually check components. Very easy to program using the appropriate card.

Currently using this esc in a mini funtana with a 12x6 prop.Was able to set it up easily from downloaded instructions,has performed faultlessly since installation,and at this price would be silly not to highly recommend.Well done GC,another winner.

I cannot get the Black Mantis 30amp esc speedcontroller to work with my Tower pro A2409/12t outrunner (200 watt). The motor has/does work fine with other ESCs but will not run with this controller. The controller arms fine but the motor just twitches left and right when the throttle is applied (no complete revs). Without the prop it will occasionally sort itself out and the motor control is fine after that, but this is every time the battery pack is connected. However, I have never managed to spin it up with the added load of the prop. The programing the controller via the Tx is fine, I have changed start modes and timings but nothing seems to overcome this basic problem. I have a corona sythn rx and 3s lipo Have you any ideas?

I selected this ESC to drive a 2215 motor in the ARTF Predator. Having already downloaded the extensive Black Mantis user manual and contemplated programming via the transmitter, it was a no contest situation, so I ordered the matching programme card. As received the ESC booted up in true "plug and play" style and was used in this manner for initial test flights of the Predator. Used with the Emax 2215 there is of course plenty of reserve current capability, and despite its size there was hardly any thermal build up after running the motor flat out for several minutes. There are some clever functions on these ESC's and they won't be fooled. Initial set up is really simple and only requires the ESC to "learn" the transmitters throttle setting by having the stick at maximum then moving to low. Arming bleeps are quite loud which is useful when booting in a noisy environment such as out on the flying field. The manual is worth reading, but as it's comprehensive I opted to take the shortest route by buying the Mantis programming card. The general appearance and visible build quality seems to ooze quality, I like these speed controllers a lot. PCf
