This device is really very useful and quite easy to use. The supplied Logview software was down-level but it's easy to get the latest version from their web site. The device's firmware was also not the latest but, again, one can update this as well, providing a one second logging interval. I used it to detect which cell was going bad in an old lipo pack and have also used the in-flight logging to test a new pack and decide on what voltage the cut-off should be set to. If you make up a Y-lead using JST-XH leads then you can connect the logger and a cell balancer at the same time, either for charging using a non-balancing charger, or stand alone balancing. A most useful bit of kit, recommended.

Ordered yesterday, arrived today, outstanding service. The meter is good quality and is packed with functions. The unit is quite small and as such is very handy for pocket or field box work. The meter screen is small but somehow they show all the info you need to check your lipo's. The accuracy of the unit is about as good as my £440 meter, and it also shows remaining capacity bar charts of the cells under test. If you don't need the logging function then get the cheaper version its every bit as good, but the logging can come in very handy when you think you have a problem with a cell. The unit is small enough to go in most planes so it can also be used as a one time logging recorder, and if there is a boffin out there, maybe this could be extracted for telemetry work who knows. There is a function for an external alarm or switched contact, I will be using this to switch a discharger of when a pre determined cell voltage is reached. All this and free logging software, and all the leads necessary to make it all work. When you compare this with other testers on the market, and factor in the accuracy, then this is serious value for money. I am very pleased to date and would recommend this logger to anybody who is interested in electric flight.

i ordered this item last Friday morning and received it Sat morning. The Cell-Log 8 is very small but it packs a punch regarding features into is tiny size inc.a LCD blue screen. It will monitor individual cells from 2s up to 8s lipo,i liked the built in 16Mb flash memory. There is also a USB connection for use with computer and the LogView software on the enclosed CDdisk, however i could not get the software to load into the computer from disk,i went to LogView web site and downloaded from there ok. i checked the Cell-Log 8 against a lab digital volt meter costing £800 and could not detect much difference between both. Well done Rob for selling this as it is a great item. there is a review in the March issue no 59 of ROTOR WORLD to be published on Feb 4th.I recommend this item very highly and every electric flyer should have one. regards Jeff

Great Voltage monitor. Can instanty see what voltage yours cells are at, Packed with lots of features. Have checked voltage displayed with good test equipment and its very accurate. Have used it for discharging Lipo cells to storage voltage buy setting alarm value then putting 12v bulb on the Battery pack. When the pack gets down to 3.85v a cell the alarm sounds and i disconnect the pack. Have not tried the logging facility yet wil post a review later.

I really like this meter - and I haven't even tried the cell logging capability yet. I have a few of the cheap LED meters and those are very good for keeping with your transmitter for checking packs before and after a flight (when precise readings aren't important) but I think it's well worth spending the extra for one of these for a home meter, or if you want an in flight alarm or logger. The best bit about it is the programmable alarm functions. You could use it as a low cell / pack alarm in flight, if you wanted to, but I use it as an over voltage monitor for charging, with my cheap Esky chargers and GC plug in balance charger. None of them can be relied on not to overcharge - that applies to almost all lipo chargers, in my experience - and I prefer to keep my lipos a bit below 4.2V per cell (e.g. 4.15V) because a) I've read it extends their life (more cycles before they start to wear out) and b) Lipos do not like being overcharged and no meter can be relied on to give 100% accuracy so it's best to err on the side of caution. The external alarm socket is a good idea too. I'll try that out soon so I can hear the alarm from another room. I guess I could even get a cheap wireless doorbell and use it to drive that :) Well worth the money because it allows you to look after your lipos properly so they'll last longer. Good gadget value too.
