CORONA 2.4GHz Spread Spectrum (FASST COMPATIBLE)
Receiver Instruction Manual
Compatibility:
CORONA 2.4GHz Spread Spectrum FASST Compatible Receiver is designed to use with FUTABA FASST 2.4GHz transmitters, such as TM7, TM8, TM10, TM14 or T6EX-2.4G, 7C-2.4G, 8FG, 10CG, 12FG

Specifications:
Operating Current: 70mA @ FASST 7ch mode normal and 110 mA max,
80mA @ FASST multi-channel mode normal and 110 mA max
Operating Voltage: 4.0 ~10V
Latency: 7mS for high speed PPM (HS), 14mS for low speed PPM (LS) @ FASST multi-channel mode,
8ms for high speed PPM (HS), 16mS for low speed PPM (LS) @ FASST 7ch mode
Sensitivity: about -96dBm

Setup:
Bind procedure:

  • Turn on the FASST transmitter
  • Connect the battery to the receiver while pressing receiver’s F/S button.
  • The Dual-color LED’s continuous will cycle through the following:
    • Red LED light (searching radio signal)
    • Green LED light (acquired the radio signal)
    • Red LED off (bind ok)
    • Green LED flashes 10 times (ID store in memory)
    • Green LED lights solid (normally operation)

Fail-safe setting:
There are two ways to set the Failsafe setting on the CORONA 2.4GHz Spread Spectrum FASST Compatible Receiver;

  1. TX-failsafe feature: This method is to set failsafe on the FASST transmitter and has priority (works on channel 3 only under FASST 7ch mode or on multiple-channels under FASST multi-channel mode) while the receiver is working on, just like the FUTABA receivers.
  2. RX-failsafe feature: Turn on FASST transmitter and turn on the CORONA 2.4GHz Spread Spectrum Receiver, put all the sticks and switches to where give the control inputs you want if the receiver looses signal and Press the F/S button down for about 5 - 6 seconds while the Green LED light solid (Rx in normal operation), then release the button. You will see the Red LED will flash for about 4 - 5 seconds. (Note: The Red LED will FLASH high speed to indicate the RX-failsafe is turned on OR FLASH low speed to indicate the RX-failsafe is turned off). If you press the F/S button a second time while the Red LED is flashing, the receiver will change its RX-failsafe status (on / off),then the LED will return to Green solid again. If you not press the F/S button .Nothing will be changed and the LED will return to Green solid again. If you want to cancel the RX-failsafe feature (not just turn it off), you can do it by binding the receiver again.

Note: If you do not set a failsafe setting, the receiver will hold all controls at the position of the last command received before signal was lost. When RX-failsafe is turned on, the receiver will initiate the RX-failsafe settings after loosing signal for over 1 second, the receiver will hold the last received positions until the failsafe takes over. When the RX-failsafe and TX-failsafe feature are both turned on, the receiver will use the TX-failsafe command.
We highly recommend you set failsafe feature while flying your models. An example of a useful Failsafe setting would be to shut down the model’s throttle, so that it does not fly or drive away uncontrolled.

Speed mode setting:
Turn off the transmitter, connect the battery to the receiver, you will see the Red LED light flashing. The RED LED  flash high speed to indicate receiver is in (HS) high speed PPM mode OR Low speed indicate receiver is under (LS) low speed PPM mode, press the F/S button for 5-6 seconds while the Green LED is off (Rx in signal searching status), then release the button. You will see the Green LED will flash for about 4 - 5 seconds. (Note: The Green LED will FLASH high speed under (HS)high speed PPM mode OR FLASH low speed under(LS)low speed PPM mode). If you press the F/S button a second time while the Green LED is flashing, the receiver will change its speed mode status (HS /LS), if you not press the F/S button. Speed mode will not be changed and the Red LED will flash at its original speed.
Important Note: If you are using analog servos in your model you must set the receiver to (LS) low speed PPM mode or your analog servo will get hot or burn out.

One word "excelent", ordered on monday evening delivered wednesday morning, fitted into my sons IC trainer this weekend, bind was successful on first try, took to flying feild and fully range checked with power down on my futaba not a problem good positive test flights, the only thing i could find fault with is the size of the casing it may be a small problem in a smaller fuz, other than that good value for money and i will be only to happy to purchase more in the future.

Seems to have excellent interfrence rejection, with 2 other 2.4Ghz TX'sswitched on next to the unit, the Rx bound instantly when the Futaba 7C tx was switched on and off several times, servo's all responded fine. Seems to run cooler than the Flysky alternative. Unit it a bit large for the realy small foamies but similar size to the Flysky. Not done a range check yet, look forward to testing it in flight.

Got 1 of these and one of the FrSky units at the same time - both excellant, the only issue with my Corona unit was that CH1 didn't work, however I had spare channels so patched the ch1 to a different one in my Tx. shame they are out of stock as need more Rx's!

Delivered overnight, test flown one in a WOT 4 Foam E, the other in a Blackhorse Twister. Flew them almost out of sight vertically And horizontally and both performed brilliantly! Would recommend without hesitation.

Well, no need for a tracking number on this one, It was here the next morning ! It bound straight away with no fuss & was already in high speed mode, so into the plane & off to the field with a fun fly. I flew in my normal "Sticks in corners style" & at extreme range,----No issues at all. At the same price, but cheaper postage, as stuff from China, & without the 3 weeks wait, I will be ordering some more of these ! ! Cheers. Ray.

Arrived the day after order! Couldn't get it to bind to my Futaba 7C at first, then I read the instructions (to hold Rx f/s button while adding power to the Rx) and it was done instantly! Also, servos all worked the right way, so probably an exact copy of the Futaba Rx at half the price.Seems great so far.

excellent RX, got 2, had them a few weeks with no problems, range is just as good as the original futaba 617`s i have and a much better failsafe feature on all channels not just throttle, will be buying more

At last we can have decent and affordable FASST compatible receivers. These are really easy to bind and boot times are very fast, I'd say faster than the Futaba RX. I thought I'd add some things to help potential buyers decide. -I like the way the servo connectors reach the RX, on the side and in-line with the board, this makes installation on my small foamies much easier and a bit more tidy. -The RX weights 9.2 grams. -RX Width is 55mm X 30mm High -Thickness is approx 8 mm at thickest point. Getting another one soon, would recommend them.

Got one and works very well, no trouble binding and works at distance. Getting another one.

Brought 2. Instant bind. Cover is more robust than the Frsky ones I have. Took them out today in a flying wing so close to ESC and battery for max electric interference. Went as high as I could see and all worked well.

This receiver is flatter and smaller than the Frsky TFR8. It was easy to setup. Same bind procedure as the futaba and frsky 2.4 receivers. Setting up the HS and LS or the failsafe is similar to the Frsky, but you need to press the button quickly again after releasing it to activate or change the setting. Once I had figured this out it was I set the fail safe and it was sorted. (I didn't read the instructions as I thought it was the same as the Frsky). Did a test flight with my F22 foamie and the flight went without any hassles, range was fine, flying as high as I could comfortably see the plane. It performed just as the original futaba would. I would recommend this receiver to anyone who wants an alternative to the Futaba or Frsky receivers. This receiver makes buying a Futaba Fasst tx affordable.

Short update on range. Futaba FF8 + TM8 modul(normal op) in closed shut microwave oven at one end of house down stairs in kitchen. RX in plane in model room upstairs at other end of house. Min distance of 40ft plus walls etc in way and RX still worked(green led still lit and no failsafes). Although, with some loss of data as indicated by flashing red led. Looks good.

Usual quick delivery. Though at first it was a re badged Frsky FASST Rx like the originals. But, board is different. Bind was quick and easy, everything worked OK. Switching off Rx(simulated power interuption) or Tx(simulated signal loss) then turning back on resulted in quick re aquasition of data/servo control. Same plan form dimensions of the FrSky 8ch FASST Rx but a lot slimmer due to heat shrink cover and not case. Cons: timing of holding FS button to set failsafe or change frame speed for digital or analogue servos is critical and may take several attempts to get right. But works OK when achieved. Also noted that Rx was quite warm to the touch(IC side) after these tests which lasted about 30min - perhaps a good idea to instal with a bit of free airspace around Rx. Micro.FL aerial connectors on board are very close to edge and free to swivel - perhaps a small dab of hot melt glue or similar would be a good preventative move. No range tests yet and obveously no long term life test results for some months yet. Sorry about spelling - late and I'm tired!
