Well what more can a say- these kits are great, as explained by others flies great just be
Careful of how you build this plane and for what purpose. The first one I followed all instructions
And used the recommended setup came in well over 350 grams flew great outside but U/c is
Useless at this weight. If you want to fly indoor forget the recommended setup this thing needs to
Be in the low 200grams 10 amp esc 1100 kv motor 450mah 2s lipo spinning 11x4 prop, be sparing with tape and buy Thinner diameter carbon rod for spar, use depron cyno and make carbon push rods.
Do not use battery tray cut slot in top fusethis helps with inverted balance and flight characters and only use half of landing gear ply ( the vorticella bits)
Mine comes in at under 240grams flies great indoor or out and light enough to land slowly and easily
On our grass strip and handles wind ok.
Happy building great little plane.
Look up the threading technique to stiffen up frame this is super light and works great

Build is nice and easy, Use a 9x3.8 SF and flies nicely with lots of power of a 3 cell and gently flying characteristics on a 2 cell. Tail vibrates a bit in flight, just adding some carbon to the tail to try and get it a bit stiffer.

Definitely a good deal. Nice fly.
I had to remove the landing gear because it doesn´t work on grass and it makes it crash when landing (At least the way I set it up). In the instructions says to set the ailerons with 2 servos, I´ve just put one in the middle and it works fine.
I´m using the motor/prop/lipo recommended here and it works very well.
Very pleased with it!

What a barrel of fun this is for £13, just add a couple of carbon strips down to the tail on the horizontal section of the fuz, if you are going to fly it hard, it helps stop it twisting in flight, the EMAX CF2822 , drags it vertical for ever on 800mah 3S 20c loong max, or keep it light on 800mah 2S for indoor (just has vertical) pentium 18 stays cool all day, the best £13 you can spend i will buy a couple more for spares soon as mine is 12 months old now and poss had 140 + flights indoors and out, still flies well but its got some hanger rash now, mine has cracked a few times on the front horizontal section which glues to the wing leading edge, but i must say i fly the living daylights out of it, thrashing it within an inch of its life most times it goes out , a few drops of glue and on it goes.

I have been on flying rc aircraft for a short while and thought i give this one ago for a small price.
Instruction sheet not to good but found a pdf file on the net which is much better, got all the parts as listed by giant cod, flew this modle today 2/10/11, perfect day and no wind and blue sky, i expected it to be awfull lol but wow it was so easy to fly and control, i think i might try a 7x6e prop next. If your thinking do i buy it or not!....... just buy it its fab , full marks rob at giant cod

Easy to put together poor photocopy of instructions but found clear copy at http://www.helipad.pl/_var/files/3271-CAP232_and_EDGE540_Assembly_Instruction.pdf
Z bends are poor but heat in blow lamp and then you can rebend without breaking.

Great fun for the money, though very fragile. Take a roll of tape and some superglue with you when you go flying. Mine has been great for learning to roll and fly inverted, though you don't want to fly this in more than a gentle breeze. Mine has a 1600kv motor (from GC) 2 s 1000mA. Having tried a few props I find a 9 x 6 GC slowfly the best. reasonable climb but not outstanding. I have repaired it and reinforced it with balsa now so much that it's getting a bit on the heavy side, but still flies well and I have even managed to take off from the ground (as opposed to hand launch) on a smooth track.
I recommend dropping it gently into longish grass rather than trying to land on the u/c as if it goes wrong and flips you can do a lot of damage. (Easily repaired with a bit of tape though.)
I love this little cheapo and thoroughly recommend it.

What can you say !
WELL DONE GIANT COD.
i must admit i had doubts about a £14 plane, i chucked mine together, and it flew superbly! it gives the pilot super acurate controls, its well mannered and doesnt try to catch you out, flies high alpha nicely, and can be flown in a small area with confidence. performance with recommended parts is awesome,
undercart is a bit floppy and will cushion landings ok, but it will belly out if you get too rough on landing. keep in mind i am using a big 800mah tipple 30c LiPo, i am sure it would be fine with a 500mah and make it lighter too.
possibly the best £14 i have spent in a long long time.
value for money 10 / 10
whole package performance for money 10 / 10
colour and finish 9 / 10
instructions 5 / 10
i will buy another and spend a bit of time on it, (10 minutes if its lucky, lol) putting the round CF tube on the leading edge, and the strip CF near the trailling edge, as others have suggested, and i will hinge my elevator better next time.
By the way, the CF2822 brushless is great, with the Pentium 18 ESC and the programming card, it is totally brilliant, so easy to use, runs fairly cool too, i will be fitting this combo to more models next year.

Brilliant fun and at this price, unbeatable. Sure it's only 4mm depron, but it does the job. Built mine with the provided 4mm carbon tube as a leading edge for the main wing which then keeps the underside smooth, and used the flat carbon strip along the hinge edge of the main wing - works perfectly, and the wing is strengthened in the right places. Also made straight push rods rather than using the ones in the kit, and used light weight tape around all the exposed edges of the depron to protect it from wear and tear. Set up with cf2822 motor, 8 x 3.8 slow fly prop on a 3mm prop saver, 11.1v 1100mah 3 cell 25c lipo, 30A esc, 4 JP 7.5g servos, AR6100 spektrum RX = flying weight 340g, wing loading 6.9oz per square foot.

Great model arrived in perfect condition even though royal mail seemed to have knocked the box about quite a bit.
Instructions are pretty vague but I found you can download them as a colour PDF here
http://pulserc.com/myfiles/file/CAP232_and_EDGE540_Assembly_Instruction.pdf
which I found helped a lot, no cog but it’s not too hard to work it out, you'll need to make at least one linkage for either the rudder or elevator as they are supplied the same length so you'll find it difficult to position the servos, no big deal.
I used some off cuts from the laser cut ply to raise the battery tray off the foam allowing for a small velcro strap to be used along with a rubber band, works great.
All in all fantastic value and simple to put together.

Good value - although I wouldn't recommend to a novice or someone who has no access to other modellers who perhaps have experience of shockie's. Lack of CofG guidance is a major error.

Nice bit of kit for your cash!
markings are awesome and picture perfect due to its light skin over the foam
the foam is very light and pretty strong for the thickness and you may think its pretty flimsy when you first get it but once the peices go together you will see its not that weak after all
this is my first shockie but ive seen how others are built and how crap some makes can be
this one however is one of the best quality kits ive seen at this very good price..
one thing i may suggest is if you move the circular spar to the leading edge as putting it on the underside is bound to cause drag and not to mention its a little unsightly
other 540 kits go together using this method and its alot better visualy than having a big black rod attatched to the underside of the wing
some foam adhesive and a few strips of giant cod tape hold it nicley in place there
the flat spar is a little thicker than the thickness of the foam so you need to play with it to get it centred, dont make it flush one side and sticking out the other as again creates drag
with all depron models the less drag the better it will perform, not to say it wont perform good but its better to keep the drag to a minimum.
anyways thi kit is great value for money and probably worth picking up a spare at this price :)

Excellent for the money. It was my first depron model build so I found it a little fiddly but well worth it.
Flew straight out of my hand and quickly as well, straight into the vertical and accelerating.
On the other side of the coin with 1/4 throttle it is a pussycat and handles really well even at slower speed.
She handles a slight breeze with no problem, it just makes it more interesting to fly.
I am waiting for more stock to arrive so I can buy more...just in case I get a little to adventurous and dramatically re-kit it.

Kit arrived in perfect condition. Instructions leave a lot to be desired, but anyone who has built a shockie before will have no problems. Builds easily into a strong, light airframe. CofG not mentioned in instructions. I have chosen AXi 2208/34 with Jeti 5ch receiver and Jeti 12a ESc and Tower Pro 9g servo's ( as I had them all left over from the last shock flyer ) Just need the weather to improve ready for outside flight test

At last, 24th May, a decent day to fly with almost no wind and a bright sunny sky. The Edge 540 had a 2S 800 Loongmax pack fitted and a bit of guessamatism and intuition used regarding the balance point as this is not shown in the assembly guide.
I also wanted to try the mini 4 channel Corona receiver so had swapped out the RP8D1 for the 2.4ghz version. What a surprising little model this is. At full throttle it flew from a gentle hand launch holding it by the canopy top-side. The Edge flew straight and level without even a trace of trim. There's little point trying to describe how nice it was to fly, it's just a barrel of fun and with such precise control aerobatic manouvers made it look as if I could fly..hahaha. Totally brilliant. I got about 5 minutes from the 800m/a pack, and the tiny Corona receiver performed flawlessly even at a distance I considered was pushing it a bit too far.
For light conditions, these are a great model to throw in the car. I'm considering taking the undercarriage off as it's a grass field with mines. (cow pooh pies).

For just short of 13 quid this is a super bargain model. It went together easily and very quickly despite the destructions being a bit lack luster. With suitable weather conditions these should be a lot of fun outdoors. Having large control movements allows them to be used in relatively confined areas.
The carbon fibre leading edge and wing spar ensure a rigid plate wing. All of the parts are nicely cut. A pair of lightweight wheels are supplied. These ARTF's are ideal to assemble with Giantcod foam adhesive ("trouser glue") and 24mm reinforced tape. The pre-printed colour finish is very good. The Depron has a hard outer smooth skin which is reasonably tough.
Motor shown in assembly guide is Emax CF2822. Lipo Loong-Max 2S 800. 3S will also be tried. Prop- SF8 x3.8 to 8 x 6
Servos fitted: 4 x Emax ES08A. Smaller types can be used, but model has large flying surfaces so be careful with tiny plastic gears.
