Fed up of being unable to charge more than one or two batteries? What about being unable to charge totally different capacities and chemistries at the same time?

At last, the new 'Quattro' charger. This is effectively four B6+ chargers all built into one compact case. Each charger has its own display screen and programming buttons for complete, independant control. Each charger has its own balance port for Lithium type battery balancing and one balance board for XP and TP plugs is supplied (others are available as options).

Two of the chargers have a temperature sensor socket which also doubles as a PC interface socket. These sensors/cables are options.

The Quatro is built into a sturdy aluminium case with extensive cooling fins to handle the 50W charge per charger that it can handle. That's a total of 200W. You will need a good 12V battery or a 200W power supply as a power source.

I received this in a lightweight `Jiffy' type bag, and the charger cardboard box was slightly crumpled at one end. I queried this with GC, and their comment was that they sent out all their chargers packed like this. Luckily the charger itself was seemingly undamaged. My view remains that the packaging is inadequate for a heavy charger. The charger operates much as my Turnigy 6 in terms of menus, so I guess the Microprocessor used is fairly common across a range of brands. The LCD displays are large and clear. I was less happy with the plastic `wrap' which forms the outer skin of the front, including the `buttons'. I say `buttons' but they are simply circular discs in the plastic wrap, which actuate switches on the underlying circuit board. Also my charger is fussy on powering up - sometimes it will turn on all the cooling fans, in an unstable revving up and down. It is necessary to turn off and on again to stop this happening. Maybe it is something to do with the interaction with the power supply ramping up. I was not expecting German quality for the price, but nevertheless I am slightly underwhelmed. I would give this 3.5 out of 5 if I could.
