T6EAP 2.4GHZ RC SYSTEM

This is the plane version. At the moment there are no printed instructions available, but this model has all the same features and programming as the Futaba 6EXHP which are about 3 times the price. We haven't had time to test them yet so I have taken a review of one left by someone who got one instead of the heli version.

I've recently received this set and installed it in a 40-year old rudder elevator model. I've checked all the functions but not actually flown it yet (due weather and idleness). The set (labelled T6EAP) is plainly for fixed wing planes (which I wanted), not helicopters, and has all the same program functions as my Futaba T6EXAP, namely: ELVN, V-TL, FLTR, FLPR, PMX2, PMX1 (1 more than the Futaba), TRIM, EPA, D/R, EXPO and REVR. There is no way to name a model (that I can find) but I intend to write the model number on each plane. None of the heli functions such as N-PI, N-TH, REVO etc described in the manual are included in the Tx. Presumably there is another version (T6EHP???) for helicopters. In fact the manual describes the wrong Tx, being for the 35Mh helicopter set. If you're new to programming you will need the advice of an expert, or you could download the Futaba T6EXAP manual. Even that does not fully describe how to use each functions, but is better than nothing. To enter programming mode you need to hold down the 2 Mode buttons for a second or so (not the Select one as well as stated in the manual). You then cycle through the functions by pressing either Mode up arrow (forwards through the sequence above) or Mode down (backwards - useful as REVR is probably the most frequently used function). This is a minor advantage over the Futaba which only goes one way. You change the settings Data +/- and Settings - you'll have to experiment. I have still not reliably sorted how to set PMX1 and the D/R and EXPO functions. Being old and a bit slow I had a minor problem finding the Bind button on the receiver. It is very tiny, on the end beside the aerial. Once lightly pressed binding is virtually instant. Altogether the set seems to be very good value indeed, the only disadvantage being the manual. I haven't actually flown with it but so far am very pleased with it.

Easy mode change
This is a 6 function 2.4GHZ transmitter supplied with a matching 6 channel receiver. The example tested is a basic computer unit with a small easy to read top mounted LCD display. Helicopter flyers should find the transmitter’s functions are adequate for many types of model. Specific functions available are, model memory, servo reversing, exponentials, dual rates, throttle curve, idle up pitch curve, throttle hold, revo, swash plate select etc. Stick mode change is easy and involves swapping the throttle stick friction lever and some electronic changes made via the LCD screen. This particular unit has electronically operated trim button/switches rather than the electro mechanical lever type.

Audible warning
When checked on a power supply, the transmitter has a loud bleeper to indicate that the batteries are becoming discharged. The audible low voltage warning starts to operate at 8.4 volts. Either long life alkaline AA cells or NMH rechargeable cells can be used in the clip in battery holder. A standard charging jack is installed on one side of the transmitter. The small but useful instruction booklet provided covers all aspects of the computer programming section in reasonable detail. This is generally well written and easy to understand having been translated into a good standard of English which is a pleasant surprise. Numerous illustrations regarding the LCD and transmitter programming have been included.

Very fast bind
As with the non computer systems tested, the bind procedure is amazingly fast and without any fuss. Having plugged in a servo or 2 and suitable battery, the units are ready for the binding procedure. With both units switched on, the receivers green LED will be illuminated. After gently pressing the bind button in the centre of receiver case end, the LED will flash a few times then stop as the bind procedure is completed in a matter of seconds. The R6DH receiver is generic to both T6HP and T4U 2.4GHZ systems. Due to the immense choice of servos now available, none are supplied with this transmitter-receiver combination. Although orientated towards helicopters, this combo outfit should also find favour with fixed wing sport model flyers who want an easy to use computer transmitter.

Range
A basic but impressive ground range test was done at a flying field with the receiver, 2 servos and a battery pack hung in a tree about 5 feet above ground level. This test involved the transmitter being unfairly taken down a slope making it out of line of sight and below the operating horizon, yet a positive lock was maintained at all times.

Conclusion: Outstanding value for money. This is no nonsense easy to set up, plug and play entry level computer radio. Ideal for those who may dislike the very complex systems which often need the huge user manual to be carried at all times. For instance: Servo reversing see page 211 etc.

First class speed of delivery. Well done Giant Cod and Royal Mail. Whilst designed for model planes it is also suitable for controlling live steam model trains. I suggest you mention this in your web info.

I first wrote a review of this set about a year ago and have had very little trouble other than an unexplained reciever failure (refusing to bind after a good many flights). However I feel I should update my review as I believe interferance of an unknown origin left me with a wrecked model, the faisafe activated on the esc shutting down the motor,I found myself completly locked out and the model spun into the ground from about a hundred feet. On the ground evrything worked normally and a detailed examination of the esc, receiver, battery wiring and relivent connections has revealed no faults

after the usual quick delivery the radio looks quite good. already have the 4 channel model and not had any issues, bought this to use as main radio but specifically for the trainer function, unfortunately have to wait for a cable ordered elsewhere, maybe an item you should stock as seem to be selling loads of these radios?

Excellent next day service again. Nice set.converts from mode 2 to mode 1 easily and does what it says on the box.For the money, easily worth the 5 stars

I still highly recommend this set for it's price and simplicity of use. I wrote my lengthy report two down from here, but I have to say I have since encountered a complete reset of input data at the beginning of a session recently..!! I couldn't believe my eyes. Scrolling down through all the reviews, this has happened before for some reason. Fortunately I only have two simple models set up on it, but it would have been a real issue and pain if circumstances had been different..! Still no issues at all in flight though and with 'Instant' cells fitted it just goes on forever on one charge. My advice would be... still go for this set for £51 but jot down all model settings and pop them in your wallet incase you need them at the field...

Exellent value and performs well. Mine required the throttle channel to be reversed on all six model memories but this is easily done.

Well...this is my first dabble with 2.4Ghz and was bought to cure (mask..!) a noisy set up in a Formosa that is the first to effect my usual 35Mhz Corona dual conversion normal layout. I use the Corona Rx's even in a EDF jet with no issues but the Formosa kicked all over the place randomly, so in went the 2.4Ghz Rx in no particular worked out orientation (the single aerial wire sort of curls upwards) and the binding sequence done with no major hassle. Everything worked smoothly after scrolling through the simple menus and getting it all about right, then off to the club. I couldn't work out a range check without walking half a mile away, but it was ok up 200 yards or so on the ground, so off it went.. How refreshing to fly the model totally glitch free and have confidence in low aerobatics from the off. I've now had 20 flights with it and all have been A1. We are fairly close to pylons and have a rail line behind so it gets tested, but all ironed out beautifully for £51. I fitted eight 'Instant' individual cells to it and feel no need to solder them in due to the tightness of the battery tray springs. So far, I can whole heartedly recommend this outfit as a cheap cure for noisy sites on 35Mhz. I have the loss of full servo travel with probably the last 8th" of stick but is it really necessary..? I just set it up accordingly to respond how I like with what I had on offer. I have an electronis background so the cure would be a comfortable one to do, but I don't feel the need. One thing I miss flying electric is a timer on the screen, but a simple fix with a cheap stopwatch. Best wishes...David

Excellent value for money. Cured the disturbing occasional 35Mhz glitches experienced on my old Fleet transmitter. Wonderful not having to worry about that long aerial. Something thats bugged me since the single channel days :-) I've been using one of these transmitters for the best part of a year now without problem. With extra receivers for under a tenner, it's easy on the pocket to equip each model with one. I never thought I needed more than four channels, but the flaps/aileron mixer is a handy extra. Works well with the new "Eneloop Instant" style AA sized 2000mAh rechargeable batteries. The capacity to work for hours and unlike the regular NIMH variety they stay well charged for months, enabling that quick exit to the flying field, when the weather is just right..

im happy now it came today, not gc fault just slack royal mail. any way, the tx looks good bound right up it has 2 user prog mixes, both of which im dying to use, flaperons on my js44 f15 and the other on a twin motor su27 by js44 as well, nice to have expo at last after 1y+ of moving my sticks just millimeters at the center and going to 3roll a sec rolls AND a end pin rx was chuffed to see that. i will give it 4 star for now....5+ if it range checks and works as advertised. still need to open it up and give it the once over, my 4ch looked to be put together by monkeys with solderin irons on a friday night all pots needed some work, but this looks like it might be better but some of the solder joints i can see dont look to good VR1 that can be seen thru the batt hatch on the left side looks like its legs had to be pried apart to stop it shorting after it was bent in place, from my time doing pcb work it should of been pre bent then attached not attached THEN BENT. THE WAIT is so far WORTH IT and i beat the vat increase..just, BONUS

I bought this Tx and three extra Rx in July. My experience so far is dissappointing. One Rx wouldn`t bind and another after one flight wouldn`t bind any more. Both were sent back and replaced. The Tx from the outset was reluctant to hold memory settings but being a novice I initially put this down to my own finger trouble. Having very carefully built up to four flying models on four model memories over a period of a month or so I arrived at the flying flying field switched on the Tx and everything had gone. All returned to factory default settings. Its now back with Giantcod awaiting testing. It was the positive 5 star reviews in this column that persuaded me to buy this kit because it really is cheap and therefore brilliant value IF it works reliably. I hope sincerely that I`ve been the unlucky one and things get sorted out.

My new transmitter was returned and I received it yesterday with an antenna that will rotate to the postion where it is vertical to the face of the receiver, as with Futaba FASST transmitters. It concerns me that Radio Link transmitters are being supplied where this cannot be done, because the antenna is glued in position to prevent it from being rotated. Futaba do not recommend that their FASST transmitters should be used with the antenna pointing straight out in front of the transmitter body, i.e. parallel with the face of the tranmitter, as this gives out a weak signal. My first Radio Link transmitter had an antenna that would rotate, so why has this been changed? This may be the cause of some of the problems that have been encountered with Radio Link 2.4 GHz sets. All other 2.4 GHz transmitters that I have seen being used have the antenna positioned as with the Futaba FASST sets. I have not used the returned transmitter yet, so the rating has to be unchanged for now. Patrick Hardy

I received my new transmitter this morning and it has been returned today. The aerial would not rotate to the correct flying positon (which is straight up). One of our club members has the same fault with his Radio Link transmitter and he has had some crashes, so I was not going to risk using it with the aerial fixed in a horizontal position. It is very disappointing that these things cannot be checked for faults like this before they are sent out to customers. Pat H

Most impressed by the speed of delivery to New Zealand i.e. 5 days. The tx looks to be a very good buy. I've not had a chance to use it in a model as yet, butan ticipate no problems. I'm going to use a 3cell 1450 ma LiPo for power eventually. The Rx that came as part of the package binded without trouble.

by Patrick Date Added: Thursday 26 August, 2010
I have been using this version for just over a year and had no real issues with it during that time, apart from three very short lock out issues, that fortunately took place when the aeroplane had enough altitude to recover. It would help if a fail safe could be set up like the Futaba FASST system, rather than one which seems to go to full left rudder and down elevator, albeit the throttle did close down during my experiences. I have used just the one transmitter but with 6 different receivers and models and it has been used on many occasions. So far very good, one could say. However, that has now come to an end as, after using the transmitter a week ago and then putting it on charge, it will not power up. Is it worth sending back for repair? I don't really know, to be honest, as I have no way of knowing if it could be repaired or what the cost would be before returning it. At present, I have decided to order a new transmitter but I am somewhat unsure if it is the right policy, as a club colleague had a real lemon with the one that he bought and I don't really want to risk destroying a model by trying out an untested transmitter. So, what is my opinion now. I would have given it five stars but now I have to ask myself is it such good value after all. Frankly, approximately £50 for twelve months use isn't great value. I also think that a guarantee of 6 months isn't good enough, although it would have been just outside a year's guarantee. Pat H

Spooky how quickly the parcel arrived! Tx identical to my FF6 but 2.4Ghz, great. I was troubled initially when trying to set up, the throttle and elevator positions on the receiver were reversed! So it was shipped out in Mode 1, Dohh. The receivers bind instantly and the range check is fine, weather has prevented flight trials to date. Keep up the good work.

I have been flying with this set in a GWS Tiger moth for a while with no problems, and have just installed it in my Precedent Electrafly. The set performed faultlessly and a solid radio lock was maintained at all times even when I flew it nearly to the limit of visual range. Wheather it matters or not I installed the reciever aerial in the vertical position in both models and had no problems. This set is fantastic value for money, with the low cost of recievers and six model memory means all my aircraft get one each . I would recomend this set to any one.

by Roger Date Added: Friday 09 July, 2010
Extremely pleased with the performance, quality and value of this outfit. Also very good manual. Two things I hope we can see in the future (even if it costs a little more): A proportional flaps control (the manual does slightly suggest there is one available) instead of the bang/bang switch, and (I always want this) more model memories please. It always seems to me that the space/cost considerations in providing more model memories must be minimal so why don't the manufacturers do it? I'm in danger of having to buy a second Tx just to cover more models and while that might be good for Rob its a pain in the arse to have to carry round more trannies, not to mention having to find another £50 odd!

Wow, this seems to do everything my £125 Spekdrum DX6i does but for much less money. If I was doing it all again I'd definitely start with this. Only need posher radio if you're flying moulded planes. This is perfect for cheap foam models. So far, hard to fault.

Works perfectly. I'm only using in short range planes, but so far, works perfectly (next to a mobile phone transmitter, that used to send 27/ 35 mhz planes in a frenzy/ dead stick/ uncontrolled crash). 2.4 ghz for me means I can fly with no worries about interference. Don't know the range, but far beyond what I need (at least 300m.)

by Andrew Date Added: Sunday 20 June, 2010
Hi, So pleased with my Tx, great range (out of sight) that I have bought a 2nd Tx. The only problem I have found is that the voltage reading is suspect so I check the battery reading at the end of every session. Took the metal battery connectors out and have fitted a 3-cell 2200mAh lipo battery. Used the Giant Cod transmitter for over a year with no problems except the one mentioned above. Andy

Not much to add to other 5* reviews. Ordered over holiday week-end but nonetheless I got the usual GC prompt delivery. I was surprised to find an excellent manual included and as a user of a Futaba 6EXA found the functionality and programming capabilities to be no problem at all. For perfection, if there is ever to be a MkII of this set-up I'd have liked more model memories than six (as it is I'm going to have to buy a second Tx!) and I'd personally have preferred the Rx to have end plug sockets rather than side. Haven't tried the range yet with my slopers but on the electric field the limit is orientation visibility, not the radio. Can't ask for more than that. Fitted 2100 "Instant" NImh and battery life isn't a problem while (and this isn't made clear) a bog standard Futaba Tx/Rx charger will plug into the jack socket on the side, so once you've installed the batteries you don't need to open the case again. Astonishing value. It's been the pain of spending a wad on replacing my 35 MhZ receivbers that has deterred me from going 2.4. Since these receivers are less cost than most comparable 35 Mhz units it was an easy decision.

Great service, ordered monday night on line. Delivered Wednesday. My friends told me about this product. After using 35mhz transmitters and getting glitches across our flying field. They went to this product no problems at all, Great value for the money. Would be nice if it was sold as mode one as well as the mode two. But it can be changed.

I bought mine some months back after trying out a 4 channel one. I bought a sanyo nicad from overlander that cost nearly as much as the 4 channel version (why don't you sell tx batteries and rx ones especially the LiFe ones Rob?). It's functioned pretty well the only problems I have had are:- 1. the buttons on the front were misaligned causing problems trying to push the top 2 together, when I had the front off to solder a femaile connector onto the power leads to make the battery removeable I noticed one of the alignment lugs wasn't engaged on the pcb, sorted that. 2. the sticks do not operate over their full travel, this isn't a major issue on the flying surfaces but is an excrutiating pain in the ass on the throttle stick, I know someone's cured the problem on the 4 ch one does the fix work on the 6 channel tx? The low, low price of receivers means that having only two mixes is not a major issue. I bought one of those hangar 9 raptor f22s and I have 10 servos in this, I use two receivers , one per side kitted out as follows ch 1, aileron (x2) on each rx, 2x elevators one on each ch 2, 1 servo on one ch 3, 2 rudder servos on ch 4, 1 nosewheel steering on ch 5, I use Pmix1 to link this ch to ch4 to provide the right input, 2 x flap servos on ch 6 and ch 2 & 6 are mixed with pmix 2 to give 7% down ele when flaps deployed. Good value for the money but I wish the flap channel was not just all or f all, ok for a spitfire but u/s for a raptor.

Following recommendations from a friend in Renfrewshire, I bought a giant cod 2.4 ghz set and have to say I found it very easy to set up and use. I now have 4 spare receivers as well and have installed some of them in 2 more models. I found the programming very easy with the supplied instructions and look forward to many "Glitch" free operations. The radio is for Steam locos in my case. One with one channel but some of them have multiple channels all available from this unit. I was very apprehensive about the new technology but was reassured by the clear concise instructions. I would recommend this unit!

Both my Father and I bought one of these sets at the end of last year but have only just had a chance to use them. We were a little apprehensive after reading some of the negative reviews but thought for the price they were worth a try. So far we have not a had a single problem with them. The glitches we used to experience have all gone and we certainly havent had any problems with losing signal. We both fly small electic models - my favorites being a Nigel Hawes Tucano and a Starmax Panther EDF. We did pay attention to suggestions that the reciever should be mounted with the aerial pointing vertically as opposed to laying down - whether this had made difference I cant say. My Father unfortunately lost acontrol over his Corsair on its maiden flight, which initially we put down to a loss of signal, but further investigation revealed a broken wire on one of the aileron servos that had caused the accident. I wonder whether some of the negative comments about these sets have come from problems not caused by the sets at all. In my opinion these a fantastic value for money - just look at the price of the recievers alone!

by Bob Date Added: Friday 14 May, 2010
I installed the 2.4 gig set in my Multiplex ParkMaster and it was transformed from a twitching handful (GWS nano Rx) to a smooth and relaxing flier. The Tx is easy to programme and use and a set of rechargeable AA cells can be recharged in situ with the standard Futaba charger. I was convinced of the set's capability by using it in a hotliner glider and achieved cloud height without losing radio control. I've bought four more Rx's for the price of one Futaba. A bargain at this price. Well done GC.

An update after lots more use. I still find the set excellent and now have 4 receivers. Range is out-of-sight with large gliders and 35meg glitching problems vanish. I have had 2 issues, one resulting in a written off model. Firstly, I had a bad battery connection to the ESC. The power was pulsing on and off and then the bind was lost. Sorting out the connector and re-binding solved the problem. Recently, I tried a small moulded delta with a Speed 400 motor with the 2.4 gear. All fine on the ground but shortly after launch control was lost - splat! Investigation showed that I had put the aerial in parallel to the side of the body and when the plane was going directly away from the Tx, the aerial was screened but the motor. By the way, if you have connected the negative power lead and then inadvertently touch the aerial with the positive lead, sparks will fly. Amazingly this doesn't affect the receiver or the bind. This set satisfies all my modest needs.

I have a couple of the 4-channel T4Us, but I think it's worth adding my experience to this thread as well. The Tx is a solid box, nice sticks, trim a bit tatty. At £25 it's a great bargain. However, I think it can suffer from poor quality control. I opened up both of my Txs - one was fine but the other had a wire only just hanging onto a stick pot with one strand. Worked fine, but that solder joint was obviously a problem waiting to happen. It was easy to repair. I suspect that some of the problems reported here are down to dodgy connections or solder joints. These boxes really need a quick check inside before flying with them. That said, they seem to perform very well when running properly, and I am sure the factory will improve it's procedures...

Save yourself heartbreak and Rob ignoring anything you write to him DONT buy it. This equipment is not worthy of Giantcod, Rob normally supplies good kit and value. This radio control equioment was the worst value that I have ever bought bar none. It is very unreliable. The Rx intermitantly binds to the Tx. I have had many crashes with foamies thank goodness rather than heavier balsa models. The Rx obviously looses the signal and has to have time to reset. I have even emailed the manufacturer and have had no reasonable reply Rob wake up this equipment does your reputation no good at all

Very good. I've only used it in ground based models (Cars and hovercraft) so far, but there have been no problems. Binding is very quick and easy. Tx design has been more than a little influenced by cheaper Futaba and feels a little more "plasticy", but what do you expect for fifty quid!!! I ordered several receivers at the same time; only one very slight problem. The Rx antenna is basically a short length of very thin coax with the outer stripped off for the last inch and a quarter. On one Rx the inner had been partially cut through in the stripping process and broke off in transit. This was not a problem, because I was able to strip the outer back by the same amount and restore good operation. There appears to be no detrimental affect from doing this. I'll get round to trying this set in an aircraft soon; I've every confidence it will be fine. Great value for money. Another good product from Giantcod.

Been using the set with 2 receivers for some months without any of the problems experienced by others. Swapped receivers between models and never lost binding or model memory. Out of sight range in gliders and worked without problem in a Twin Jet that has always glitched badly. Peter: if you want to sell your receivers contact me via Rob.

I have been flying with this equipment almost daily for the last few weeks and can thoroughly recommend it. The performance is as good as my Futaba 6EX costing three times as much. Spare receivers at a tenner each means I don't have to keep moving receivers from model to model and so far I haven't managed to fly out of range. No signs of the dreaded "lock up" either, but suspect maybe faulty TX or RX aerial positioning. Pointing the transmitter aerial at the model is a no no! Very satisfied, a bargain at twice the price.

I wrote one of the first reviews before I'd used this kit. (That review is now part of the product description). I've been flying with Peter L quite a lot and have had the same problem at least once though I use the kit far less than he does. It is dangerous! I strongly advise that before switching on a model you ALWAYS go to programming mode and check that the servos are at the correct settings. For electric flight that means that servo 3 MUST BE REVERSED. This is a bore but probably tolerable for occasional flyers such as myself. Apart from this problem (which is a serious one) the kit is still good value.

OK Guys, It seems we have a locking out problem with the 2.4 GHZ radio link equipment. I have experienced this 3 times now, writing off one model in the process. However, it occurred to me that the models were all in the same position relative to the Tx when this occurred and the Rx aerial was always pointing directly towards the Tx. I have repositioned the Rx aerial on all models so that it now points upwards rather than horizontal and have had no further problems. My confidence in the equipment is now restored and I hope this suggestion saves a few models from destruction and improves the safety of our flying sites. Tony B.

I bought one with 4 RX's, what false economy £90 down the drain! I have used it intensively for almost 3 months and found serious problems. It has dropped the memory a dozen times even between flights ( intervals of even one minute without changing batteries); this results in the throttle reversing and sometimes the motor coming on at full throttle – very dangerous! I now find the right aerolon gives only half movement. I thought I had landed on a bad one except that a friend has the dame and has experienced the same reversal. Rob should take them off until they have been sorted out. Pity should be good value, especially the RX’s.

Does exactly what it says on the tin ! Now used it in parkfliers, small electrics and electric gliders at quite extreme range ............. rock solid ! Absolute bargain - highly recommended. GrumpyGnome

hi my fist thoughts was impressive excellent price receivers excellent value. i bought one and my mate bought one i bought 2 extra receivers my mate bought 5 extra receivers. i checked all the throws and found last bit on each stick did nothing so i read the forums and did the resister mod pretty simple job throws now perfect. my mate tried his first and he was impressed on his foam park flyer his tranny was standard not modified i planned to do his at a later date. after gaining confidence he fitted it in his brand new nitro tiger moth which had flew a few times over last few weeks.on first flight after around 25 seconds the set completly locked out and his plane had no control and smashed to the ground very heavy impact. we walked to the plane and all was working all servos moving how they should receiver and battery well packed and checked voltage in receiver battery which was fine.the flying club advised not to use the sets.however i gave them the benefit of the doubd and the next week i tried mine first few flights was fine was i on a winner i thought . gaining confidence i installed in my ic fun fly after flying for around 2 minutes mine locked out for around 2 seconds fortunatly gained signow and somehow i managed to gain control and land in one piece.i checked receiver voltage and it was fine.i have not had the nerve to try it again.it does work every time i switch it on but is it worth the risk.i dont want to condem the sets but dont know which way to turn so i am back on 35 meg.the receivers only have one antenna and i wonder if they are heli receivers as final letter on them is a h.i wondered if anybody has had any problems i await any responses andy

Great bit of kit. You get a box - which has a picture of an older 35mhz model on it, and the reciever... and that's it. But for the price it is an absolute bargin, and it works very well indeed. Not a single glitch, and does everything I need or will need to do. And the equivalent from Futaba or Spektrum would cost just over twice as much. There is only one problem.... The recievers sell out so fast! But then don't forget that the equivlent recievers for Futaba or Spektrum would cost four times as much.

I ordered the six and four function sets to use in my boats and received them 24hrs later all nicely packed in styrene boxes. I fitted some batteries connected servos and they both worked out of the box. So I installed the receivers in a couple of boats and after setting up the six function set Switched on and tried a ground range check, all seemed ok so I switched off and got the boats ready for a trip to the lake. I then thought I would try naming the boats to make opps easier so I switched on the transmitter followed by one of the boats and horror the right stick wasn`t working, ok I thought you’ve probably programmed the thing wrong, I dug down in the menu but couldn`t find anything wrong so I reset the system to its default settings .Still no right stick I eventually traced the problem to the connecter on the main board, a dry solder joint, a quick dab with a hot iron and problem solved. I have now run two boats at the lake in company with Futaba and Spectrum 2.4 gear and the GC kit performed faultlessly, in fact I think it might be less prone to interference than my 40meg 6exa. So after a bit of a shaky start I am now happy to recommend this kit and will be ordering another five receivers as soon as Rob gets some in.at £10 a pop there almost cheaper than a pair of 40 meg crystals

Wow, I fly Mode 4!!!! Normally it is a pain to use functions such as elevon mixing etc. With this I select mode 4 and everything works like I want. Brilliant and superb value.

Spur of the moment purchase to replace a Futaba T6EXAP and wow cant imagine getting more bangs per buck. Will do 1k servo throw mod and fit old Futaba NiCad pack but this combo is definately great value and fitted right in to my existing 1/4 scale Pitts. Now need loads of Rx pls Rob Richard

What a piece of kit for the price!!! Initial thoughts were good with the Tx having a pretty good feel to it, better than some of the cheap bundled 35Mhz sets I have seen, not quite Futaba but 1/3 of the price, who's arguing? Bind & mode change was easy, as described before. The gear was installed in a small pusher jet style electric model with elevons, so a chance to use some of the programming functions on the Tx-no problems were found with naming the model, elevon mix, rates & expo functions, even though I have little experience with computer sets-the rates all work together off the one switch, not separately as on my Futaba CAP set-not too much of a problem in use really. The battery connections are very tight & with modern Nimh AA cells, should not present a problem with any dodgy connections. A standard Futaba charger is compatable. In use, a perfect, glitch free flying session, smooth & positive-what more could I ask?? I have to keep telling myself this is only fifty or so quid-no hesitation giving it 5 stars!! Well done GC.

This is a very good system, I have flown with it now and can highly recommend it, I now have four Rx and will be getting a second Tx and 8 more Rx in the near future. I have installed my first 4 Rx in small electric models, all have performed perfectly. I will now try an i.c. model. My clubmates were impressed with it and some have said they will buy their own for slope flying and electric models. Phil

quite a nice unit despite it's initial plasticy look. The sticks are quite nice to use, and once a nimh battery pack is installed it feels nice and substantial. It seems to be identical to the late model FF6 in all but the throttle cut button on the Futaba unit. Mixing covering all the basic wing and v-tail functions, dual rates, expo, epa, named memories are all there. Following from the last review - switching on with the mode buttons depressed puts it into stick layout change mode, not reduced output. As supplied the last part of the stick movement doesn't affect the servos - see the forum for a simple fix. If it didn't have the lost motion on the sticks, it would get a definite 5 *, even though I don't like digital trims, but that's a personal preference thing. If it had failsafe and the stick range fixed it would be the equal of any big brand unit costing £150.

Not a review as such hope to help the gentleman who couldn't power down for a range check. The set seems to be based on the 6EXP try switching on with the "mode" button depressed Hope this helps. I've rated it good but only to get the web to accept the post although I will be trying one of these in the future Andrew

My second 2.4 ghz Giant Cod transmitter and nine receivers have now all been test flown and found to be as good as the first Tx/Rx combo which I have been flying with no problems since June. This equipment has been the answer to an interference problem at our club site which affects the whole of the 35 mhz band, the source of which has not yet been established. The cost of replacing all our 35 mhz equipment with Futaba or Spectrum gear would have been prohibitive but with spare receivers at £10 a time, Rob has made it possible to re-equip an entire fleet of models at reasonable cost - thanks for keeping us flying Rob. Regards, Tony B.

I am one very happy modeller, I ordered this Transmitter on Sunday afternoon and received it Tuesday, great stuff, just in time to tsake to my club social night and show it around. For those who were having difficulty in naming their models, it is as follows. Select model you want to name, press the "Select" button twice and you should find the curser flashing on the first digit. Using the "data" keys you can change the character, up or down key. This will give you a Capital letter, lower case letter, numeral or a . , : etc. just as the Futaba 6ex. All I need now is to install the Rx into a model and give it a thorough test, i will keep you informed.

Recieved the radio two days after ordering and installed it into my 60 sized aerobatic model. The reciever binding was almost instant. I converted to mode 1 which only took a few minutes. The programing is very straight forward I flew the model for the first time yesterday and was very pleased with the range (almost out of sight ) and the response was rock steady. This is an excellent radio and with extra recievers only costing £10 you can't go wrong

I purchased one of these systems with the feeling I was taking a bit of a risk, but at the price I decided it may be worth it, after all the complete system costs less than my usual RX alone! I am happy to report that having tried it out I am overjoyed with the product. The TX programing was straightforward using the Futaba manual available through Giant Cod. I successfully flew 2 of my electric models tonight with out sign of a glitch and felt in full control for the entire flight. The only slight concern I have is the apparent inability to put the transmitter into a limited power mode to enable a pre-flight range check. Based on my experience i would not hesitate to recommend this product to others on a limited budget.

John:__Hi ... I have 6 receivers ... but all came with channel 3 running the motor in reverse Skywalker:__The only problem i had was that Channel 3 needed reversing as the motor was always starting in programme mode. Just to confirm, reverse-throw is a transmitter function, nothing to do with the receivers. Even Futaba transmitters need the throttle channel reversing as supplied, so this is not really a reason to mark the Radiolink set down :) Cheers Phil

Hi just thought i would like to raise one point i have 6 no receivers all of which set up very easy but all came with channel 3 running the motor in reverse but on setting up any new set you can expect these things so i dont understand the feed back from skywalker only giving 4 stars he seems to praise the set on one hand then down marks it for this reason, i do not think he should fault the tx and receiver for this, sorry skywalker john come on it is well worth 5 stars please read all the other reviews john b

Have just recived my 2.4ghz 6-Channel Mode2 Digital Transmitter, and i must admit that i was a bit sceptical about how good it was going to be. All of that disserpeared as i took it out the box, Its a good weight, solid controls and the binding was instant. The only problem i had was that Channel 3 needed reversing as the motor was always starting in progrme mode. hope this helps

Used this Tx and Rx for the first time. Found that I had to take the throws down as the servos response is so much more than my Futaba. Flew a Thrush powered glider and also a 3D with perfect response to the stick movements. Setting up the receiver was a doddle and I am very pleased with the purchase. Bought three more receivers (£10.03 is a steal!), fitting one to my indoor as it is fairly small and light. My fellow club members could not believe the price of this transmitter & receiver. Would recomend this Tx & Rx to anyone

Bought 2 Tx/Rx sets this week and flew one today in a nasty, glitchy area where control through 35MHz radio is not good. This was the smoothest flight I've ever had, with NO glitches and producing a huge smile! The second set, for a friend's use, remains in the box as the Rx is missing its binding button! Notwithstanding the problem with set 2, changing to my preferred Mode 1 was a doddle and setting up was easy following my Futaba 6 manual. One small benefit is that the control throws with the 2.4GHz set are about 20% more than for the Futaba so flick rolls are just that bit quicker! £50 against £120 for a Spektrum etc and £10 for GC Rx s (when they arrive) is better sense than £50+ each for Spektrum. Thanks Giantcod - better than just Good!

Works great, the controls feel really smooth, easy to set bind and setup the sytem. It's a good shape and weight to hold in one hand while hand launching. Waiting for some more 2.4g GC Receiver to come in stock so I can buld something new and make better use of the model memory feature.

Delivered the day after I ordered it, as usual :0) Fantastic value bit of kit, easy to program, you can name your models on the display (4 digits), very fast, simple bind, nice solid feel to the tx, sticks have nice movement. The aerial was very tight to twist on delivery, I suggest you hold it right at the base before the hinge and twist it between thumb and forefinger (as if you were rolling a cigarette, but a LOT firmer) in order to not put stress on the hinge joint. After it's been twisted once it's fine, nice and smoth. Used it once so far with my f-22 foamy in the local park, no glitches etc, worked perfectly :0) I set up the elevons in about 1 minute! About 5 seconds after I launced the f-22, I thought "sh*t, I've forgotten to raise the aerial", it's strange coming from 35mhz and not having a long shiny aerial and pennent in front of you :0) Love having digital trims instead of mechanical ones, I don't keep knocking them out of position! 5 stars, 100%, seriously great value for money!
