Update on previous review - I returned the item to GC and after a week GC confirmed the item was faulty and refunded my money (they would have shipped a replacement if I'd wanted).

This was part of my third order from GC and is the first item I've not been 100% happy with. (out of about 70 items)
The volt measurement of LIPOs seems to be OK, but the current measurement is so very bad that you could easily destroy your motor or ESC. For example I tested using a small brushless motor up to 5 Amps and got the following results.
Real 0.5A showed as 0 Amps
Real 1.0A showed as 0.1 Amps
Real 1.5A Showed as 0.4 Amps
Real 2 Amps showed as 0.8 Amps
Real 2.5 Amps showed as 1.1 Amps
Real 3 Amps showed as 1.4 Amps
Real 3.5 Amps showed as 1.7 Amps
Real 4 Amps showed as 2.1 Amps
Real 5 Amps showed as 2.8 Amps
The real amps were measured using a good quality multimeter and verified with another multimeter so I'm pretty sure they're accurate

I brought one of these after moving into in electric flight from I.C.
Great item and even tells you the charge state of the pack ( wish I hadn't brought a separate Battery Capacity Checker as this can do the same job)

Good value for money. The meter I received was blue. Recently used it to identify why one motor in a multi-engine set up had failed. Should have purchased one sooner and I would have known the current draw was too high for the motor.

I bought this having used one belonging to a flying colleague. Mine is just the same having a blue anodised aluminium case although the one shown on the website is black with different face graphics. I'm certain that the meter provides exceptional value for money and once again brilliant service from Giant Cod!!

Only bought for 100A watt metre capability, not used battery modes. Tested with lab bench supply. Voltage readout is OK, but indicated current reading is out by 21% upto 5A (+- 5% lab supply but prob better than 2%). Internally it uses a shunt not hall sensors for current. Dunno if error is worse at _5A as don't have calibrated load/meter. Shame the cal is out by that much on this unit as otherwise very good value. But probaly perfectly useable for general RC use. Top speed delivery -cheers.

Follow up comment:
The first one was faulty after going through the returns process I received a replacement yesterday I balanced 2 lipos ok then whilst balancing the third it allowed the voltage to drop to 1.8v per cell! Beware! My personal view is its rubbish; But at least its cheap rubbish others are selling it at twice the price!

Mine worked fine on arrival. (I asked for the unit to be tested before shipping, I don't know if they did or I just got a good one).
-Does a nice job at checking and balancing battery packs.
-Very clear display and easy to see all the info displayed in real time.
- A must have tool for all electric fliers.
I use this very often and I would say it is pretty accurate.
-Apparently is also able to drive speed controllers (and servos) without having to use the receiver for checking out power trains, servos etc. (haven't tried this yet)
Amazing value for what you get I'd say.
My unit came on a strong anodized blue aluminium case, not black as shown on the picture.

Quick delivery
The GC Watt meter / Lipo tester was faulty on arrival
On plugging a 3 cell lipo in to balance the screen showed 4S-Lipo and 4 voltage readings!
Contacted GC and asked to return (at my cost) and if found faulty a refund would be issued!
I had not realised this was the policy if I had I would have bought locally.
Beware!

Received meter promptly (as usual from Giant Cod). Delivered unit in smart blue metal case slightly different to the one shown. All functions work as specified - don't know how they do it for the price. Instructions a bit lacking here and there (UP/Down buttons?) "calibrate all values to zero", WHY?
Great value, how do people manage without one?

Brilliant piece of kit for little money, mine wasn't as pictured it was a blue anodised alloy case with no name on it but nice quality. great gadget balances my 2s lipos in just a few minutes. nice clear readings on watts, amps, volts, mah mode don't know how accurate the readings are but its got to be better than guessing. says i was pushing my luck with a 8x6 prop at 30 amps full throttle (my esc is 25amp continuous 30amp for 60 seconds.) probably close as it did get a tad warm!!!
i recommend this piece of kit I've seen it dearer else where and to top it all it arrived the next day after ordering!

Wow! what a piece of kit for the money. If you fly electric then you need one of these, no more guessing your set is right or over propped just plug it in and all will be obvious. It also tells you if your lipo's are balanced and if not will do the job with just a few button pushes. Lets face it for less than the price of a lipo this is a great bargain and a must have...

Inexpensive instrument but be wary of the values given. It can be out by 20% on current consumption and voltage. It gets worse at higher levels and can be inconsistent. My Emax 2212 gave 15amps first try and then 17amps next time without any changes. The motor actually is pulling 14amps. I've been using this motor/prop set up for over a year. My meter will not work consistently conected directly with most of my (Giant Cod supplied) speed controllers. It may or may not start and is likely to cut out before full throttle is reached. It works when using the normal Rx - Tx system to control the motor.
Perhaps this init is just too cheap?

Received mine this morning. It appears to be an updated version. It is in a nice black metal case with "Trakker" on the case. The instructions are headed "Two-Meter" and the box it came in "Power Analyser". As well as the advertised features it can now be used to test servos and can also control an ESC without the need to use a Transmitter/Receiver set up. In these new modes the instructions refer to Up and Down buttons, but there are no markings or instructions to identify the keys to use. A little trial and error revealed that you use the Enter and Select buttons.
Overall a very nice little unit at a ridiculous price. Even better with the additional facilities.

A great little piece and equipment apart from it nearly blew up a lipo battery in my face on connecting it!!!! The Lipo battery adaptor cable that came with it must have been soldered by a monkey.....such a poor job that it was a dead short, the positive and negative were soldered together as whoever did it attached it to the wrong side of the deans connector and even the heatshrink wasnt on properly. Gave me quite a scare. I would seriously advise anyone who gets a new one just to check the adaptor cable is soldered properly. Mine worked fine after I stripped the cable down and did a good job myself. All in all a nice bit of kit. Only knocked stars off to hopefully get your attention to make you aware of the issue I had.

Recently ordered and received two of these meters. Tested one out on my electric glider to measure the change in wattage and current between 10x6 and 11x6 folding prop installations. Also able to check overall voltage, indivdual cells of Lipo,as well as balancing cells. Very useful meter, easy to use and really good value at half the price of other meters on the market. I would seriously recommend this meter to anyone flying electric installations, hence the other meter is for another of our flying club members, who I am sure will be equally very pleased.

This is my best gadget. Allows me to check and balance lipo packs at the field as well as being vital when setting up a new electric power system. The only thing that would make it even better is a max-reading memory, trying to remember the max volts, amps and watts whilst running up the motor on a test stand isn't the easiest. But in reality it's just a check that the amps isn't too high for the ESC and the watts for chatting down the field ;)

Thanks for the quick delivery. The tool is very easy to use and intuitive. Many functions in only 3 buttons. The version is not that of the photo but has the same features and connecting cables. I tested the old and new batteries and I must say that the wattmeter works fine, except for one detail; balance at the end, the indicator of the first cell is always greater than 0.01 compared to the other cells (ex: 3.93 - 3.92 - 3.92) with all my batteries. I do not know whether it is a minor detail or a defect, you decide. Its strong point is the measure of watts and amps, which performs very well. It is an indispensable tool for a aeromodeller. All this for an attractive price. Thank you G C
Grazie per la spedizione veloce. Lo strumento è molto facile da usare ed intuitivo. Molte funzioni in solo 3 pulsanti. Grazie G C

Excellent price, looks well built and is very easy to use. Someone commented a while ago that his example read very differently from another munufacturer's wattmeter, so I tested mine against a Megger M5091 professional grade multimeter and here are the results:
Giant Cod: 2.1A 4.5A 9.0A 14.0A
Megger 2.3A 4.8A 9.3A 14.26A
Given that the Megger is only specified to 2% accuracy on the 20A range the GC wattmeter looks pretty good to me - of course individual units may vary, but mine is a good'un :-)

The only problem I have when I use the wattmeter,
at full engine power the image from the display disappears, so I am not able to check the maximum power consumption because the device does not have a memory, what the problem is?
I checked five different batteries, effect is the same.

Used this meter[Trakker] for some time without an apparent problem in the 10/20A region. Checking current draw on a new Alphajet, the meter read 47A, way over the 36A reported by other users, and well over the sp controllers 40A rating.I flew the model anyway [another story] keeping power under70%, and contacted the supplier with the problem. They suggested my meter could be out, and indeed when i checked the A jet on a Multiplex meter it read 36A on the same lipo.I now do not trust this meter, and at £15 it's not worth returning, but if Rob wanted it for a calibration check, i would send it back.

Slightly different 'Tracker' version, but does all the same stuff.
Ordered Wednesday, got it Saturday, what a piece of kit !
So pleased with this... balanced all my lipo's then tested a couple of models with their current setup, well pleased (will be propping-down on one model).
It seems to do everytning necessary and is essential kit to avoid esc fry-up's or battery cooking.
There are others on the market that can only do the same but make a bigger hole in the pocket !
Don't chance it with your valuable flying gear, get one of these and stay in the air safer.

Great piece of kit, and costs less than half, of many other brands. Black plastic case is still very robust, and I can't see any problems occuring with it. Instructions not perfect. In self-balance program, it states select Lipo check, instead of Lipo balance, but it is obvious what it means. Hardest thing to do is to remove the plastic film protecting the display/lens, it seems to be tucked under the black plastic and does not want to come away. Excellent service from GiantCod. BUY ONE.

Just run a series of tests on a C3536/14 motor from GC - measured power(watts) current (amps), and voltage (volts) for full and half stick using 5 different props - 7x5 up to 12x6 - easily able to determine that the 8x6 or 9x6 will give the most economical and safe performance without overheating the motor or ESC (Overlander 40A ESC used for test).
Delighted with ease of use and clarity of display - good buy!

I have buy the trakker version, it is very similar, good item, very useful with its function of wattmeter and balancer, but I have check that in wattmeter function the measure loss about 0.8v, than balancing pack with low voltage (as 3.2v x cell) the voltage can drop below 3.0v and it's not good for battery,

Excellent bit of kit. New to this game so I thought it might pay to be able to track power use to ensure batteries and esc's didn't get cooked and this bit of kit has helped me do just that. Value added for me was the fact this is can actually monitor the state of each cell in a lipo pack too, though my charger deals with balance just as well.
Simple to use, battery in one end, ECS the other, select the function from the very simple menu system and bingo :) Even I can manage it ;)
I have already saved 3 lipo's from cooking by actually seeing the current being drawn by the motor was too much for the cells 'C' rating :0

What's it all about? Well with this unit in your hand you can access the data and prove
your setup is correct. An accurate reading for your lipo batteries with a percentage
indication in figures as well as a line indicator. Battery balance concluded using the
battery being checked as supply, so no need for power unit on flying site. A very
useful product, well constructed, in a robust case and complete with some leads.
I recomend you purchase one and you will use it with pleasure .Best Price Unit.

This is an excellent little unit. I bought mine from Robot Birds but was rather annoyed when I saw it in Giant Cod for less money! It is far superior to the rival Neodym wattmeter (I have both) because it gives more functions, has a higher volts and amps capacity, and is far more robust, having a metal case and no fiddly little micro switches which are susceptible to breakage. Also it is cheaper!!!

Great tool!
I've tested with 18amp esc and various motors and feel very good.
Only one note: i've connected to 10amp esc and I've killed esc.
From now I will use it only on 18 or greater esc.

sorry for bad english :-)
Ottimo strumento.
Raccomandato

Great bit of kit, at a very good price. I almost feel guilty paying so little for this extremly well made and useful bit of kit. Its a must for anybody who is serious about Electric flight. As usual it was recieved well packed and very prompt too.
Well Done Rob & GC .
Just think..... I could have paid twice as much at a model shop :-)

Arrived very quickly I thought there was a post strike!! This little unit I recieved is called tracker and it is in a black case... still works the same, so no panic. The self balance takes a while don't know if that should be the case, but it gets there in the end and beeps away. I like this unit and the price thanks Rob

Arrived quickly as most stuff does,
It does what it says on the tin the readings matched my other equipment and the Li-Po balancer and tester is a great bonus. The balancer won't win any speed tests but it got there in the end. I love the Mah reading it makes calculating the duration of battery life easy.
Bad bits, I had to resoilder the lead as it fell apart first run and I wish it had data hold save all them reruns because you forgot what the reading was!
For the money fantastic value well done Rob another top product at a bargain price.

What a nice bit of kit, seems all my li-pos are out of balance even though I use a balance charger, amazed at how much current my flying wing pulls, thankfully it unloads a bit in the air.
Never seen a meter at this price before but as usual with Cod fast delivery and it seems a quality product that does what it says on the tin

Hi all
just got this tester, it is very easy to use and I agree with all the previous reviewer comments so no need to repeat what is said. Highly recommended . As for the Deans adapter lead supplied i just cut in half added 4mm opposite bullet connectors to the ends (so can be rejoined if needed)and know i have easy adapters for plugging in my set ups.
and thanks to giant cods realistic prices I am able to get into electric flying as cost stopped me before.

First off I’ve got to say a big thank you to Giantcod for great service and very fast delivery. The item also arrived very well packaged and protected.
The meter itself is great especially for the low price. The metal casing looks good; it doesn’t look cheap at all and appears to be nice and strong. The display is a good size, clear and easy to read. The three control buttons are very positive when operated and the operation of all the meters functions are easy and straightforward.
The meter has built in Deans connectors so if like me you use a different type you’ll have to make up a couple of adapter cables for using the watt meter mode.
The battery check/conditioning mode is good showing you the remaining charge in the battery and the condition of each cell. If there is an imbalance the meter sets about balancing the cells automatically. There is also an audible warning if the meter detects a problem as well as displaying the results. The meter can deal with 2 to 6 cell Lipos using the multi socket adapter board that comes with it. Lilo and LiFe batteries can also be tested.
All in all this is a very good value for money piece of kit and at the price it’s something everyone can afford
